Finding the beauty in African hand crafted jewellery
More often than not we tend to overlook the little things in life and yet those little things are what make life that much beautiful. Most times we prepare our attire for the day without questioning who made them and how they made them.
Today we celebrate the African craftsman and his art in making exceptional handcrafted jewellery. So we dug out a few recent pieces from our jewellery box in remembrance of those skilled artists in the markets of Nairobi.
Perhaps the next time you reach out for your earrings in the morning or visit a Maasai market or any other handcrafted jewellery market in Africa, take time to appreciate the hard work of skilled Africans who give your everyday outfits the finishing touch they need.

where is the jewellery from?
ReplyDeleteHello Jenny!
ReplyDeleteThe bracelets and orange pendant are both from from maasai market, an open air Kenyan arts and Crafts exhibition that changes locations within the capital city on a daily basis. The bracelets and orange pendant were purchased at an indoors Masai Market in the Central Business district, opposite "Biashara street". The silver pieces are from some jewellery shops also on 'Biashara street'. The rest of the orange pieces are also from a market on Moi Avenue also in the Nairobi CBD. The turquoise pieces are actually from primark, UK, and we say that surprised because we have seen similar ones in Nairobi! Hope we helped!
