Originally a two bedroom tree house, the hotel now accomodates 50 rooms. The history of the hotel goes way back, its original structure having being burned down in 1954 by African guerillas during the Mau Mau uprising. It has since been was rebuilt near the same waterhole and became a fashionable get-away for the rich and famous. popularly known to be in the same location that the now Queen of England, Elizabeth II acceded to the throne of the United Kingdom upon the death of her father George VI during a visit in 1952.
Visitors can observe the amazing wildlife from the top deck, the communal viewing windows or the ground level hides as well as take motor tours from the treetops. Treetops remains an overnight destination with only overnight luggage being allowed. There is a 1000 watt artificial moon used to illuminate animal during the night times. Another unusual restriction at the treetops is a low decibel level restriction due to the animal’s hearing sensitivity- so all hard-soled footwear is banned!
The treetops is an amazing and different way to enjoy Kenya's beauty and wildlife, so whenever you are in or around the area, take a trip down to the Aberdares and enjoy it from the Treetops!
