A work of heart

image

Have you wanted a self portrait of yourself or a loved one but just never had the money to get one done? Well, now you can get one, at an affordable rate of course, what is so great about this is that while you do that, you would at one time, be funding building projects in Kenya AND helping upcoming artists in Toronto. Worldwide appeal? We think so!

A work of Heart was started by self-taught painter Laura Armstrong. While visiting Kenya, she happened to witness life in the slums and see the reality of many Kenyans have to face on a daily basis. The project started when she used the he money she got from painting she did for a friend to sponsor Doris, a bright little girl  that she met on one of her visits to the slums, to go to school for one year.

From this little deed, A Work Of Heart was founded. A project that  uses art work to build schools and day care centers in Kenya while creating short term job opportunities both in Kenya and Toronto.

How does it work? You buy a painting, or send in a photo that you would like to be painted, and a portion of the proceeds go toward a building project in Kenya.

The Tetley Tea Project

Since then, Tetley Green Tea, CA. took note of her work and has helped her take a step further in her community development goals.
